A Football Poem

Football MapAs summer fades & Autumn blooms and kids get back to class…
A grounds crew uses chalk to decorate freshly cut grass…
Some men suit up in armor, others wear black and white stripes…
The rest of us wake up intoxicated by the hype…
‘Cause as Sunday morning rolls around anticipation grows…
Time to cheer the home team on to victory against our foes…
Gutsy call! Solid running! Damn good catch! Better throw!
What a tackle! Nasty hit! Interception! Here we go!
Now we’ve got momentum, baby! High fives ’cause we’re on a roll…
What? Another flag?!?!? These refs are blind! That call was horrible!!!

Refs
Time to grab another beer, maybe a second plate of wings…
Every play feels like a big one when your team’s chasing that ring…
From New England down to Dallas up to ‘Frisco back to Pittsburgh…
The thrill of victory is great; agony in defeat hurts…
The lucky plays, the injuries, the fumbles, and the field goals…
All a part of a Football’s journey, can’t predict how each game will go…
‘Cause on any given Sunday any given thing can happen…
So we yell at our HD TVs jumping around and clapping…
We celebrate when times are good, but still believe when things look bleak…
We care more than we really should, we’ll all just Football geeks…
We root for guys from rival teams ’cause fantasy points matter…
It’s all so damn irrational, but makes for awesome chatter…
As the final game winds down, we start to miss Sunday so much…
But fret not ’cause during Football season Monday doesn’t suck…
One more game to go, so get a good day’s work in then come home…
And get ready for some Football ’cause we’re all in the Red Zone!
Touchdown!

Brady
