First up, the good folks at Erato will be holding its monthly dance music night this coming Saturday, November 19th 2016 at Club Bohemia, in Cambridge, Massachusetts’ Central Square. Billed as Scorpio Rising II, the night will celebrate all the Scorpio babies in the house, including Erato’s own resident DJ Dende and DJ Mystina, better known as the The Couples Couple, as well as the heard and soul behind the Erato movement, Manolo’s Daughter, Liza Zayas.
Whether or not you’re a Scorpio, one thing is certain; if you’re looking for an entertaining night of great tunes and even better dancing, this in an event you won’t want to miss. The Erato crowd is diverse, inclusive, and knows how to have a good time, so if you’re looking for a fun time this Saturday, you won’t want to miss Scorpio Rising II.
Next up, on Saturday, November 26th 2016, just a few days after Thanksgiving, Jerel Ferguson and the Hike4Life crew will be holding its 7th Annual Walk Off The Turkey Hike. The last “Hike of the Month” for 2016, due to New England weather considerations of course, the Walk Off The Turkey Hike is described on Hike4Life’s Facebook Event page as a “FAMILY FRIENDLY, intermediate/advanced day hike to bring our awesome year, to a fun and healthy finale.”
All are welcomed to join the group at the Trailside Museum in the Blue Hills Reservation, 1904 Canton Ave, Milton, MA 02186, at 10am sharp. The group will hit the trails by 12pm, so if you’re looking to burn off some of that delicious Thanksgiving turkey, stuffing, sweet potato pie, etc… while checking out some beautiful, woodsy scenery, this hike is right up your ally, or shall we say, woodland.
That said, one commonality that drew us to both enterprises is their multi-cultural, inclusive nature. Simply put, the people behind each group genuinely value diversity and inclusion and their respective movements benefit greatly from that drive. Having been fortunate enough to partake in outings with both Erato and Hike4Life, I can vouch for the sincerity and goodwill of not only those leading charge, but also those like myself, who attend. So Greater Boston area readers, do yourself a favor, expand your horizons, and support these fine, local entities. We’re sure you’ll have a great time, meet some wonderful people, and be back for more.
